Educator, author children's books. Born and educated in Stockton, Calif. and at Stanford University. Fought in World War I, worked as merchant seaman, then as high school teacher in San Francisco Bay area. First adventure novel, "The Tatooed Man" (1926) followed by twenty-two others.
